I am looking at the guzheng manuel. My new guzheng is being tuned to D E.. F# .. A B D down the roll. I don't really like the sound, the base note is not low enough. It is tuned differently from my old guzheng. And there is no G ?!!!

I want to tune it to the green string as G , follow by ABCDGA in that order.

Is it all right to re-tune the whole thing?

Thanks for any advice in advance.

You can tune all the F# to G to get a G major.

GABCD G doesn't sound like a normal scale to me. you'll have a fourth between D and G.

Yes, you can tune the scale to anything you like as long as you don't change the string tension to much. e.g. The green string is made for A pitch, you can probably change it to G or B and it still sounds good. If you make it too loose or to tight, then it won't sound good.

hi yukina tks for the reply Smile i have just learned how to tune my guzheng to the D scale. Green string is A , follow by B , D, E, F#.

Last time, i was so nervous to tune that i perspired like crazy. Now i dare to fiddle with my tunning tool on my guzheng. Very Happy

Hi, on the topic "bass note is not low enough" I have retuned my Gu Zheng to A# which gives a good woody bass but also, as a bi-product, a much easier 'bend' since there's less tension in the strings.
I am no expert at all having bought this instrument a few months ago and learning by myself but nevertheless, I thought I'd share this. Very Happy
