Hello Everybody!
A strange thing happened just now. I turned away from my instrument and as I did so, I felt my elbow touch the number one bridge. It didn't feel that hard but there was a loud noise and all of the strings had collapsed:

I've since removed them and am in the process of replacing and retuning it but I wonder, was this a sign my strings were too tight?
Thanks!

Don't worry, it's normal. It happens to me a lot. The bridges are close together, so they fall like dominoes. Laughing

So glad you posted about this experience. Yesterday the same thing happened to my daughter, but only 5 bridges- she ran off crying because she was so afraid she ruined her guzheng. It was very dramatic! If I hadn't read this already I would have panicked.

I called her back into the room and told her that it was ok and we could get it set back up again. I had all the bridges back up but one, then the last one flew out and knocked them all over again- some went flying off the guzheng! After a few choice words, finally got it all set up, and she started playing again.

I am so glad my momentary terror helped relieve your daughter's! Goodness knows I was concerned when it happened to me.
