Christmas is approaching and I'm thinking about asking for a Guzheng or even money towards one. I only have one concern though. I have no idea how to read sheet music. Is there any books or tutorials in english that can help someone completely new to playing an instrument learn all he needs to know about the Guzheng? I have have looked over the resources on chinesezither.net (http://www.chinesezither.net/files/Lesson_One4.pdf) and I don't understand which strings I would be plucking. I really would love to learn to play this beautiful instrument, but at this point I'm overwhelmed. All help and advice is greatly appreciated.

Hi Jayben:

I'll upload the introduction tonight. You can also check "numbered musical notation" under wiki. It gives extensive information on the score we use.

I've looked over that once or twice and nothing seemed to click. I'll keep reviewing though seeing as you think it may help my situation. I'll get this! I know I will! Thank you for your help by the way. I really do appreciate it. I can't wait to buy a guzheng!

Some music background will help to understand the basics.
At the bottom line, go to the last page of "Introduction to Guzheng". That's the chart for the notation of each string. You can always start there even with no background of music theory.
